- Conductor failure in normal fence use — the plastic carrier and the tinned copper strands inside it.
What it doesn’t
- Damage from a tree coming down on the line, a vehicle, or livestock impact beyond the published break strength.
- Conductor cut, spliced with knots instead of metal-to-metal connectors, or run over hardware not rated for it.
- Normal fading. Colour softens in ten summers of sun; that is the plastic doing its job.

Three free ones are worth years on their own: keep the tape tensioned but not strained, use full-width connectors instead of knots, and reel a seasonal line up rather than leaving it lying in the grass.
